Kelly's Pumpkin Apple Pie

Time: 1 hour 15 minutes

Yield: one 9-inch pie

Prepared pie dough, enough for 1 crust

3 apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1¼ cup sugar, divided
2 eggs
1 cup pumpkin puree
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cloves

Prepare pie dough and fit into a 9-inch pie pan.

Mix apples with ½ cup of sugar, then layer onto the prepared crust.

Beat eggs with the remaining ¾ cup of sugar. Add in pumpkin puree, heavy cream, cinnamon, and cloves. Beat just until mixed. Pour over the apple mixture.

Bake at 375 for 1 hour. Allow to cool completely before serving.


Notes

This recipe came to us from a very good friend at Thanksgiving 2005. A combination that we had never seen before, it’s a wonderful mix of flavors and textures, and it looks beautiful.
